This policy explains what personal information Plumbing Geeks collects through plumbing-geeks.co.uk, why we collect it, who we share it with and what your rights are.

Who we are

Plumbing Geeks is Charles Palfreyman trading as Plumbing Geeks, and Plumbing Geeks Ltd, registered in England & Wales (company number 09955864). We are the data controller for the personal information described here.

Address: Housley Cottage, Foolow, Eyam, Hope Valley, Derbyshire, S32 5QB. Email: hello@plumbing-geeks.co.uk. Phone: 07948 794765.

What we collect

When you send us an enquiry through the contact form, we collect:

  • your first name and surname
  • your phone number
  • your email address, if you give it
  • your message
  • whether you have agreed to hear from us by email with our latest news

We don’t ask for payment details on this website, and we don’t use analytics or advertising trackers.

Like any website, the servers that deliver it record technical information about each request (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it and why

  • To reply to your enquiry and arrange work. We use your details to contact you about the job you’ve asked about and to give you a quote. Our lawful basis is that you’ve asked us to take steps before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
  • To send you our news by email, only if you’ve ticked the box on the form. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by replying to any email from us or by contacting us, and we’ll stop.
  • To protect the form from spam and abuse, using Cloudflare Turnstile (see below). Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing. We use these service providers to run the website and handle your enquiry:

  • Cloudflare hosts the website and provides Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that form submissions come from a person rather than a bot. Turnstile looks at information about your browser and device to do this. Its use of that information is covered by the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum and Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
  • Mailgun delivers the form to our inbox. Mailgun processes the message in its EU region.
  • Our email provider stores enquiries we receive and our replies.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.

Embedded content

Our Contact Us page shows a Google map, and our About Us page has a YouTube video. The map is loaded from Google when you open the page, and Google may collect information about your visit and set cookies. The video uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube doesn’t set cookies until you play it. Both are covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Cookies

This website doesn’t set its own cookies. The embedded Google map and YouTube video described above may set cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for up to two years so we can follow up on quotes and answer questions about past enquiries. If we carry out work for you, we keep the records we need for accounting and tax for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to. If you’ve agreed to hear our news, we keep your email address on our list until you withdraw your consent.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct information that’s wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it
  • withdraw your consent to marketing emails at any time

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
